Thanks to all who attended last night’s potluck. We had a group of about 30 folks turn out, some of them new to Lake Altoona. WELCOME!
A DNR representative provided us information on the Healthy Lakes Grant program, which provides homeowners money to improve their shorelines. Biologists from TSB, a shoreline restoration company in New Auburn, described various options and pricing.
Also discussed – an update on our gull spotting project. We need volunteers to track their numbers.
And – the Lake District is preparing for another fish crib build on September 24th. We need able bodied volunteers, and homeowners who will consent to placement of a crib off their shoreline.
One thing I forgot to mention at the potluck! We will be installing a second “no wake buoy” in the river delta so that boaters can clearly see they are in a no wake zone. The zone begins at the delta and extends all the way up the river to the power lines. Please pass that on.
Feel free to contact me at [email protected] if you are interested in any of the efforts described. I will get you in touch with the right people.
Thank you and let’s get ‘er done!
